If you are looking for a very compact and lightweight canister vacuum then the Bosch Formula Electro Duo should be on your list. With a fairly stout 12 amp motor it won't get bogged down easily but it is still light enough to carry up the stairs with no difficulty. Vacuuming a variety of floors is accomplished by turning the brushes on the power head on and off. This is important so you don't scuff those delicate hard floors.

Like other canister vacuums the Bosch Formula works well on those "above the floor" items like furniture, curtains, and high corners. With an adjustable telescopic cleaning wand and several attachments you won't have trouble removing dust and cobwebs from places that an upright would not reach. You also get a HEPA filtration system which is important for trapping unseen allergens like dust mites, pet dander, and ragweed. If you have allergies or asthma then this quality is a must on any new vacuum cleaner you purchase.

Other features include a "full" dust bag indicator, three 360 degree wheels, an 11 inch cleaning path, and an automatic cord rewind. While these are normal features for canisters it is nice to see them included on a smaller vacuum like the Electro Duo.

Our Opinion Of It

Overall this is a nice canister vacuum cleaner for the price. While it could have a wider cleaning path, the compact size and light overall weight mean that you can take it virtually anywhere in your home. 12 amps provides ample suction for most cleaning jobs and the full compliment of vacuuming attachments will keep you busy around the house. The Bosch Formula is also rated as one of the quietest vacuums in its' class. This is a good quality for those households with small children.
